Daniel Kazungu Wanje

ASSETS Conservation Assistant

My name is  Daniel Kazungu Wanje. I was born in Mida creek village. I went to Mzizima primary school and completed in 2009. I later joined Mida secondary school in 2012 but couldn’t complete my studies and so I dropped in form 2 for I was the only son to provide for my family. After dropping out i later joined the Mida creek conservation and awareness group (MCCAG) in 2015.

Having involved myself in conservation activities around Mida creek being one of the tour guides, I was interested in birds and nature at large so I volunteered for about 5 years in bird ringing and bird counting activities organized by A Rocha Kenya. Having volunteered for that long, A Rocha gave me the opportunity to officially join the team in 2021.

This opportunity has given o me the ability to continue my Secondary  school studies and i hope to  join university  in the future. Working as a receptionist at Mida involves  welcoming  guests, issuing them tickets and explaining to the about what A Rocha Kenya does. I am grateful for the opportunity to work in a Christian Organization for i get spiritual nourishment especially during the biblestudy on Monday meetings.
